Leadership Vision

Leadership takes a careful eye, an open ear, and heart of empathy. My vision for department growth and employee development are at the core of my practice. I believe in a shared, open, and equal space that allows employees to shape their future and product strategy. See below for details on how I shape research departments for success.

Leadership

In my User Research Leadership vision, I believe in sharing research, helping each other grow, and keeping communication open. I aspire to create an environment where all can freely exchange research findings, deepening the understanding of users, and learn new approaches to difficult scenarios. My goal is to establish a team built on supporting each other's growth through mentorship, training, and giving exciting challenges. Most importantly, I want everyone to feel safe to speak up and share ideas, making collaboration, creativity, and innovation happen naturally. It's all about building a team that fosters empathy for users in research while having each other's backs in a safe and inclusive environment.

Pipeline

Managing a research pipeline is the center of running a successful research project and department. Understanding the context of the project a research walks into, the overall goals and blocks the team has faced, and planning a highly detailed and tailored approach to each research project allows for maximum impact upon delivery. Managing and creating a pipeline of research across multiple products, resourcing the match employee specializations or ambitions, and looking forward 1+ years for proper pipeline planning were the keys to my success.

Research

The first thing I start with when defining a research department is establishing a centralized space for each project team to come and drop ideas. I started with acquiring a vast set of research tools to centralize any research happening on my team. Along with Dovetail, I implemented a wide range of research tooling including, Userzoom, Usertesting, optimal workshop, Loop 11, Medallia, User Interviews, Respondent, and more. Additionally, in the down times I was able to conduct several higher-level research projects with targeted stakeholders and assist in creating MVP requirements.
